Having a problem with the automatic gear box. About 6 months ago I changed the gear box oil, ran it for a few hundred miles and changed gearbox filter and oil again. Everything good up to a week or so. The box seems to be changing up through all the gears ok (
The pump is a mechanical one with no bearings, the metal surfaces and tolerances are being kept in tact via the presence of oil 3 scenarios to loose all gears: Valve body, pressure regulator stuck, solenoid blocked. Clutch pack 1&2 burnt out, H-sprag clutch failure. Oil seals in the torque convertor failed. Other things to check could be, the transmission temperature sensor, battery, brake light bulbs (not likely), and brake light switch (not likely). You need to have the fault codes read on it to start. Turn off the engine. Select P if auto, and apply the foot brake. Push and hold EPB switch/lever down.
1. The front axle has no drive, possible half shaft broken. 2. The transfer box is giving no drive to rear prop, cause unkown. I thought the disco discovery like all other 4x4's are permament 4 wheelsdrive therfore if the front prop is turning then the rear prop should turn as well. Last edited: Jul 13, 2010.

When I went to turn the selector into park, it wouldn’t move. Sat there for a minute trying, then thought it might reset if I turned the engine off. Engine turned off ok and selector went down. Tried to restart engine, but would not and dash showed it was still stuck in reverse. Tried on/off a few times with no change.
